Accessibility

Spike Travel is built to be read by everyone, at any text size, with any input. Here is where we stand and how to tell us when we fall short.

What we aim for

We work to WCAG 2.2 level AA. In practice that means:

  • Every page reflows without horizontal scrolling at 200% text size, including on phones with large system fonts.
  • Everything works from the keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
  • Colour contrast meets AA on every text and control.
  • Images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Charts such as the month strip have a text table alternative.
  • Menus and expanders use native HTML controls, so they work without JavaScript and with assistive technology.
  • Animation respects your reduced-motion setting.

What we test

Pages are checked at 200% text zoom on a narrow viewport, with keyboard-only navigation, and with a screen reader on a sample of templates before major releases.

Known issues

Embedded maps from OpenStreetMap and third-party video players have their own accessibility limits. Where a map appears, the information it shows is also given in text.

Tell us

If something on the site does not work for you, email hello@spiketravel.com or use the contact page, and tell us the page and what happened. We treat accessibility reports as corrections: an editor looks within two working days.
